The problem

Grandparents who can't drive to the ground. Family working away. A parent abroad who'd give anything to watch their kid bat live — and instead gets a text scorecard hours later.

Scoring apps don't broadcast

PlayCricket records every ball, but no-one watching at home sees the match — just a scorecard, eventually.

Streaming apps don't show the score

Generic tools push grainy video to YouTube with no context — overs, wickets or who's batting.

Pro broadcasting costs thousands

Cameras, mixing desks and paid operators are out of reach for a club that just breaks even on the teas.

How it works

Two volunteers, two iPhones, one match.

If you can use the PlayCricket app, you can run a broadcast.

1
📱

The scorer scores

One phone runs the app in scoring mode. The scorer taps every ball as it happens — just like they already do. It all syncs live to the cloud.

2
🎥

The camera streams

A second phone on a £25 tripod opens camera mode, enters a 6-character pairing code, points at the action and taps Start. The score is composited onto every frame.

3
📺

Everyone watches

Family, friends and supporters open the YouTube link and watch a live broadcast — score, batters, overs and ball-by-ball, all burned into the picture.

What you get

Everything a grassroots broadcast needs.

Built around real cricket, not generic sports streaming.

🎬

Scoreboard on screen

The live score is burned straight into the video — it looks like a TV broadcast, not grainy footage.

🏏

Senior cricket engine

T20, T40, T45, T50, Timed Declarations and Countdown 60/100 — each scored to its own rules.

🤝

Bucks Pairs scoring

Proper Barrington Pairs handling: the −5 wicket penalty, score clamp at zero, strike rotation and 4-over allocations.

🛡️

Junior safeguarding

A UK GDPR consent step for under-18 players before any junior match can stream, saved to the match record.

🔄

Crash recovery

Phone died mid-innings? Resume exactly where you left off. Nobody re-enters a five-hour innings.

🔢

Camera by pairing code

The camera operator needs no login or account — just a 6-character code from the scorer.

📋

PlayCricket & manual

Pull official line-ups and fixtures when you have them, or score a friendly with no integration at all.

📡

720p & 1080p

Pick the resolution that suits your ground's network. Multi-device sync keeps every screen in step.

🎟️

Your club's channel

Stream to your club's own YouTube branding — no Boundary Live watermark on your matches.

Made for grassroots

This isn't just OBS for cricket.

  • Built for the village green, not Lord's

The volunteer scorer comes first — a parent or retired club legend who'll use it once a fortnight and wants it to just work.

  • It actually knows cricket

The scoring engine follows the MCC Laws of Cricket 2017 and Bucks Playing Conditions 2026 — all-out at ten, free hits, end-of-over prompts and the rest.

  • Two independent engines

Senior cricket and Bucks Pairs run on entirely separate scoring engines, so mid-match rule confusion can't creep in.

Kit you (probably) already have

Two iPhones, a £25 tripod, and the wifi at your ground. That's the whole rig. Wifi is recommended over mobile data for a steady stream.

Questions

The things volunteers ask first.

What kit do I actually need? +
Two iPhones and a tripod. One phone scores, the other films. A cheap (~£25) phone tripod at the edge of the pitch is plenty. No cameras, laptops or mixing desks required.
Will it work with my club's wifi? +
If you have reasonable wifi at the ground, yes — choose 720p for most networks, or 1080p if you have fast wifi or fibre. We recommend wifi over mobile data, as a weak 4G signal isn't reliable enough for a steady stream.
Does the camera operator need an account? +
No. The scorer sets up the match, and the camera operator simply types a 6-character pairing code into the app — no login, no sign-up. Ideal for grabbing whichever volunteer is free.
What about safeguarding for junior matches? +
Every junior format requires an explicit UK GDPR consent affirmation from the scorer before the match can stream, and that's recorded in the match's audit trail. Safeguarding is built in, not bolted on.
Does it work on Android? +
Not yet — Boundary Live is iOS only for now. The camera and composite engine are built natively for iPhone.
Do I need PlayCricket? +
No. You can pull official line-ups and fixtures from PlayCricket if your club uses it, or score a manual match — a friendly or non-fixture game — with no integration at all.
